The
foster father of the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan was
abducted by unknown gunmen early this morning, Wednesday, February
17th,
2016 at his residence in Otuoke in Ogbai Local Government area of
Bayelsa State and this is the second time the septuagenarian has been
kidnapped
Chief
Inengite Nitabai, the 72 year old man who is an uncle to the former
president was abducted today, and it has thrown Otuoke in Ogbia local
government area of Bayelsa state into confusion.
The
septuagenarian was first kidnapped during the administration of
Jonathan two years ago and the kidnappers demanded for N500 million
ransom. They were offered N30
million which they reportedly rejected. It
was however not known if
the ransom was paid as Nitabai was rescued by an anti-kidnapping
squad of
the police force. Six
suspects were arrested in
connection to the kidnapping then.
It
is however not known if the abductors have contacted the family yet.
The
spate of kidnapping for ransom is fast becoming a major crime in
Nigeria with the abduction
of Chief Olu Falae by Fulani herdsmen making
national headline. He
was later released after
ransom was paid.
