Nigerian business tycoon, Antonio Deinde Fernandez dies yesterday September 1, 2015 at the age of 79. He was one of Africa’s richest men and he’s always referred to as HIS EXCELLENCY, OLUWO ANTONIO OLADEINDE FERNANDEZ, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Permanent Representative and was from the popular Fernandez family of Lagos that originated from Brazil.
He was a foremost diplomat but had interests in diamond and gold, he was said to have direct contacts with most powerful world leaders, business executives and entrepreneurs e.g Nelson Mandela, George Bush etc.
He hosted Mandela on his Island in New York
The business magnate has his own Island, a mansion in Larchmont, NY, a house in Brussels, a palace in Nigeria and a French hunting château that once belonged to Napoleon Bonaparte. He owns six private jets and he’s said to be worth about $8.7 billion. He is believed to have different accounts in the Cayman Islands, France, Switzerland, Ireland, Hong Kong, Scotland and the United States.
He is a multi-billionaire whose massive pleasure yacht is generally moored on the French Rivera.
Not so much is known about his male children but he has so many female children and was always seen celebrating them in his lifetime.
Unknown to most people, Chief Deinde has a home in the city of Kano, which most people have described to be a fortress. The self-styled Baron of Dudley also holds the highly revered title of Garsan Fulani. He also holds numerous titles home and abroad.
He was formerly married to Barbara, an American woman for 25 years but they divorced in 1989 and Aduke Fernandez, whom he divorced in July 2003 following a £300m divorce suit in Scotland filed on July 1, 2003. He was asked by Aduke through her counsel, Charles Macnair QC, to compel Chief Fernandez to pay her a lump sum of £5m and an allowance of £75,000 monthly for 3 years but the case was dismissed by the court.
Barbara and Aduke died in 2013 within the space of three months. Aduke bore a girl, Abimbola for him. He married Halima, a beautiful lady from Kano State in 2003. He was also romantically linked with the Erelu of Lagos, Abiola Dosumu who had a daughter for him, Antoinette Oyinkansola but they fell apart.

Abimbola, is one of the daughters of Nigerian gemstone tycoon Antonio Deinde Fernandez. She is a singer and she released her first single “Let’s Take It Naked,” last year. She once modelled for Vivienne Westwood during Edinburgh Fashion Week.

Mrs. Teju Phillips
Teju Philips is the eldest child of Late Fernandez. She was a former commissioner of Lagos state. She is a director in Keystone Bank and a chartered accountant who worked with UAC.
