The Director-General of the Nigerian
Tourism Development Corporation, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe and his beautiful
wife, Adekunbi have been conferred with the traditional titles of Akorewolu and
Eyeowa of Itapa-Ekiti, Ekiti State respectively adding to the list of feathers
high flying DG has enjoyed.
Receiving the titles from His Royal
Majesty, Oba David Makanjuola Ajaja at the Methodist School field, Itapa last
Saturday, the DG expressed his delight at the honour informing the crowd that
the royal father is a great ambassador of his people having worked at the NTDC
and retired as a Deputy-Director of the Planning Research and Statistics
department before he ascended the throne of his forefathers.
Otunba Runsewe who is also the
Danburan Kabbi of Argungu extolled the Kabiyesi`s virtues saying, “He is a very
committed and dependable individual” just as he averred that coming to Itapa
has given him a firsthand experience of the hospitality of Ekiti people.
The NTDC boss and Obiagwu one of
Ndigbo declared that Oba Makanjuola following his ascension to the throne has
made Itapa Kingdom a household name in Nigeria observing that the people of
Ekiti are making a strong statement in the country with the abundance of
academics and professionals of which the monarch represents.
Runsewe who is also a recipient of
another traditional title, Jarman Ibi in Taraba State revealed that it was the
first time he will be taking a traditional title with his wife while promising
to be part of the developmental projects in the community.
On his part, HRM Oba Makanjuola
could not hide his excitement and gratitude saying, “I want to show my
gratitude to the revered personality of the chairman of this historic occasion
in the person of the DG, NTDC Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, your positive thoughts
towards Itapa at all times and your noble intensions towards Kabiyesi Owatapa
is just unquantifiable”, the traditional extolled.
Adding, “I pray for you that you and
your wife will bask in the joy, happiness and glory of the chieftaincy titles
you will be taking in Itapa today forever in the name of Jesus Christ (Amen).
Itapa appreciates you indeed and we are very grateful”
The event was graced by high-profile
personalities including top government officials, politicians, business men and
several Royal fathers.
Other traditional titles previously
bestowed on the NTDC helmsman include the Balogun Yoruba of Abuja and
Olumayegun of Okun land.
