The former
governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori might be serving a jail term
in far away United Kingdom but his influence in the Nigerian politics, most
especially in Delta is still as intact as anything.
Before now,
the believe that, Chief Ibori is a major factor in Delta politics looks like
just a word of the mouth but the erstwhile PDP stalwarts has proved his worth
that, for real, he controls affairs of the State, even from the gaol where he's
serving jail term for money laundering and other offences abroad.
This was
further confirmed has one of his daughters, MISS Erhiatake Ibori was, on
Monday, declared winner in the recently concluded House of Assembly election in
Ethiope West constituency.
The new
congress woman, Erhiatake, we gathered dedicated her victory to her “three
fathers,” Chief Ibori, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the state governor-elect and the
outgoing governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.
Erhiatake,
who's the PDP candidate won the Delta State House of Assembly poll for Ethiope
West constituency, polling 32,700 votes to beat her closest rival, All
Progressives Congress’ Edirin Ajueshi Ejideran, who polled 1,709.
Collecting
her certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC), Miss Ibori thanked God who made her victory possible.
She also
thanked her supporters for keeping faith with her and assured the voters that “this
victory belongs to them.”
