The burial
arrangements of the late Nigerian music producer and artiste, Babatunde
Okungbowa, aka OJB Jezreel who died on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 have been
released by his family with the final journey of the star musician to the great
beyond kicking off on Monday, July 4th, 2016, a day he would have been
celebrating his 50th birthday.
The popular dreadlocked
loving showbiz star and singer was battling kidney disease and was promptly flown
to India in 2013 where he had a successful kidney transplant with his wife
standing as donor but unfortunately 3 years later, the kidney disease got
worse and he eventually lost the fight at a crucial time when friends and
partners were planning a befitting celebration for his golden jubilee
anniversary.
Sadly, the gangling
producer and man of many parts who’s fondly addressed as Jigga died on Tuesday,
June 14th, 2016 just few days
to his 50th birthday which would have held on July 4th,
2016. His body has since been deposited at Farewell Funeral Homes, Isolo.
He is
survived by his father, Chief Anthony Okungbowa (Arase of Agbor), Siblings,
Mrs.Theresa Ebunola Gamba (USA), Mr. Cornelius Archibong (England), Mr. Albert
Okungbowa (USA), Mr. Anthony Okungbowa, Marvin Okungbowa, Bose Ajila Okungbowa
and Joseph Okungbowa. Wives, Mabel Babatunde Okungbowa, June Okungbowa,
and Korede Okungbowa with eight children.
According to
a statement signed by Apostle Albert Okungbowa for the family, the Candle Light
Procession for the late music star kicks off in his house, 4 Gbaja Street,
Surulere, Lagos on Monday July 4, 2016 at 5pm, Wake keep/Service of
songs/Tribute holds by 5pm on Thursday July 7, 2016 at Ojays, National Stadium,
Surulere, Lagos. The lying in state will be at his residence and the Service of
songs takes place at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Grace Chapel, 129,Ogunlana
Drive Surulere, Lagos while his remains will be committed to mother heart at
the Ikoyi cemetery, Lagos. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
