Wisdom,
the younger brother of Delta State governor, Dr, Ifeanyin Okowa is
the man of the moment right now, The man whose music career had
nose-dived ever before his brother won the last election, we gathered
reliably is now living large, and according to informed sources, the
man has announced his arrival to the big league with a Super
Sport Bugatti Veyron that costs a whopping N350m.
Wisdom
Okowa who's fondly referred to as Preddy Wise in the entertainment
industry has once granted an interview where he promised to go down
the aisle with super star actress, Genevieve Nnaji should fortune
ever smiles on him, by now, he will no doubt be preparing to propose
to the Igbo born thespian, with the launch of his wonder on wheel,
The
younger brother of Delta State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, is
currently painting Asaba red with impunity in the $1.5 million
state-of-the-art car. With a price tag of about $1.5 million, Bugatti
Veyron is the world’s most expensive car. And this particular Super
Sport version chosen by Wisdom Okowa, according to Business
Insider UK,
“is the fastest production car ever made.”
In
early 2014, Volkswagen announced that there were only 50 Bugatti
Veyrons left for sale — and it will not produce more but we're
unable to establish if Wisdom, famously called Preddy Wise, picked up
one of the remaining 50 (if any was still left as at 2016) or he went
for a fairly used one, which is almost as expensive and good as a
brand new one.
Such
arrogant display of ill-gotten wealth from the younger Okowa has
irked many Deltans, particularly the long-suffering State Civil
Servants, who are still owed up to three months salary. “The
general feeling right now is that Wisdom did not have the wisdom not
to flaunt his ostensibly ill-gotten wealth in the face of civil
servants, who had a bleak Christmas because they were not paid their
three months salaries,” said a civil servant in Asaba, who asked
not to be named in order to save his job.
We
gathered from a source very close to the Okowas that not quite long
ago, Wisdom, who is into general merchandising after his music career
hit rock-bottom, was already on his financial knees. But all that
quickly changed immediately his elder brother, the governor, assumed
office on 29 May 2015.
The
insider source told this magazine that the former president of the
Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) struck gold when
he was secretly awarded a contract by his governor brother to buy
luxury cars such as Prado, Land cruiser and Lexus LX 570 for the
State government top officials that include commissioners and State
House of Assembly members.
We
understand that the former musician, who released his first album in
1998, was well mobilised with full up front payment close to one
billion Naira, the reason he has such huge wad of cash to go for such
luxury brand as Bugatti, with a clear intent to make a statement that
good times are here…for the Okowas!
Shortly
after Gov. Okowa assumed office, he lamented that the State was
broke, claiming that he inherited N636 billion debt from his
predecessor, Dr, Emmanual Uduagan and imploring Delta citizens to
tighten their belts and make sacrifices. Now seeing someone very
close to the governor gallivanting in such an expensive car has left
many Deltans feeling short-changed and betrayed.
