A gubernatorial candidate of the ruling APC in Ondo State, Victor Olabintan has been kidnapped. Olabintan, a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly was abducted on his way to Abuja from Akure, the Ondo State capital, for a political meeting.
Secretary of the Olabintan Campaign Organisation, Gboyega Ajayi, confirmed the incident. According to Ajayi, Olabintan was stopped by some men in military uniforms who mounted a check-point.
Thinking they were soldiers, he stopped, only to be whisked away to a yet-to-be-known location.
Olabintan, barely 48 hours ago, precisely on Saturday January 9, announced his intention to contest for the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State. He announced that he would contest on the platform of the APC.
The police authorities are said to be aware and have commenced search for the victim.
