Trigger Happy Police Sgt. Kills Promising Civil Engineer Over N200 Bribe

There’s really an urgent need to overhaul the whole rank and file of the Nigeria Police Force. At a time like this when all the chips are down and the attention of the global community is on the Nigeria nation over the 240+ missing school girls abducted by the dare devil insurgents, just yesterday evening, Saturday, May 10th, 2014, a police Sergeant attached to the Festac command  wasted the life of a promising youngman, Oyoma Edewor-33, a Building Finishing Contractor over “Egunje”. And this is the third time this kind of case will be reported in same Festac Police Command.

According to eye witness account, the trigger happy Police Sergeant, Sgt. Otene who was so drunk at the time of the incident shot at the young man at close range when he refused to “settle” him for using a towing van to get his car off the road.

Tracing the genesis of the event that led to the unfortunate incident, National Enquirer gathered reliably that the Building Engineer’s car had had a slight accident somewhere around Lekki, Lagos and instead of leaving it on the road, to obstruct traffic, he decided to get a towing van to take it home in Festac.

Informed sources confided in this office that, as soon as the Police team at the second junction, Festac sighted the towing van which had already passed them by, they hijacked the nearest commercial bus and ran after the van. The towing van, we gathered was intercepted at the third junction and as soon as it was stopped, Sergeant Otene and his colleague (just 2 of them performed the illegal operation) took charge dragging the promising young man,Oyoma Edewor out of his towed Jeep and ordered him to seat on the ground.

The Policemen were however said to have threatened him to settle them and he was just about to explain the situation when Sergeant Otene pulled the trigger and shot him at close range. Though, he’s been arrested, reports reaching us have it that, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Festac Command is trying to act funny by changing the face of the story in order to absolve his men. We’re on the story and we shall do everything possible to make sure justice prevail in this case. Please let’s all rise.

Breaking! Another Explosion Kills Scores In Abuja

In what looked like a war torn zone, another bomb explosion has yesterday been detonated at the Zuba motor park, a suburb of Abuja, leaving casualty figures close to 70. The explosion occurred barely two weeks after a similar attack on a bus station in the same vicinity left 75 people dead.

Yesterday’s attack, which occurred around 8:30 p.m was targeted at a new temporary bus station. Since the previous attack, many taxi drivers had resorted to picking passengers by the road side.

“I was on my way to buying some stuff in the area when suddenly we had a deafening explosion. I had to immediately run home for safety,” said Aliyu Musa, a teacher who also narrowly escaped the April 14 blast.
He said with the way the area was crowded, there was no way many would not be affected.
Musa added that from the shop where he stood, he saw at least 10 bodies across the road lying on the ground but could not confirm whether they were dead or alive. Another eyewitness said he counted 20 bodies.

Sources at the scene said it appeared to be a car bomb. At the Emergency Ward of the Asokoro Hospital, 16 bodies had already been deposited by 9.30p.m with ambulances and emergency workers still making frantic efforts to retrieve the dead and rescue the injured.

The gridlock caused by security men who mobilised to the scene and cordoned off the area hampered rescue operations, according to our correspondent.

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, last night confirmed that nine people died in the blast.

“While security agencies have condoned the area of an explosion this evening in Zuba Abuja, response agencies have moved injured victims to hospitals and at least nine lifeless bodies have been deposited in the mortuary, while 11 unconscious victims are receiving medical attention in different hospitals in Abuja. Other injured victims too are being attended to.

“The public are urged to cooperate with security agencies and avoid rushing to the scene to guard against hampering the efforts of the various agencies working together to ensure public safety,” a statement signed by Emmanuel Okeh, Head, Public Relations, NSCDC and Manzo Ezekiel, Press Officer NEMA, said.

When contacted, spokeswoman of the Federal Capital Territory FCT Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Altine Daniel said the force was still trying to ascertain how it happened.

Ebifemowei, who’s now governor Dickson’s Special Adviser on Environmental lavished millions to make sure his father’s last journey to the great beyond was befitting. The money bag got the services of the Daar Communications management to air the superlative burial of his dad on AIT.

It would be recalled that, Ebifemowei who was Alamieyeseigha’s Special Adviser on Transportation when he was the Bayelsa governor wielded so much power to the extent that, he was alleged to have slapped President Goodluck Jonathan (he was then the deputy governor of Bayelsa) on slight provocation.

Osuoo, we gathered had had a minor disagreement with the deputy governor, Goodluck Jonathan on matter on relating to vehicles attached to his (Jonathan) office and the next thing was the slap on the deputy governor’s face, nothing, we were told came out of it as Ebifemowei was said to have even threatened that no one can question his authority as the governor’s cousin and Special Adviser on Transportation.
