In what looked like a historic
gathering yesterday, Wednesday, August 30th, 2017, the father of the
nation’s leading entertainment powerhouse, The Mavin Records, Chief Collins
Enebeli a.k.a MavinGrandPa was the host of honour at the inaugural meeting of
the Artistes Managers Association In Nigeria-AMAN in Lagos.
The epoch making event which was
midwifed by the showbiz impresario, MavinGrandPa with a view to strengthen mutual
trust and conducive business relationship among Nigeria’s artistes managers was
held at the VIP lounge of a bourgeoisie rated hotel tucked in the heart of
Agege, Humble Star hotel with attendance spanned all strata of the entertainment
industry.
Though, the inaugural gathering was
the Lagos chapter which is meant to give birth to other arms of the association
across Nigeria’s zonal boundaries, the event, however kicked off at exactly
1:55pm with a short prayer from the interim Chairman, in the person of Apostle
Emeka George.
The president of the association,
Chief Collins Enebeli a.k.a Mavin Granpa who was AMAN’s last-man-standing opened
the introduction with the historic background of AMAN and how it came into
being in the early 90s. This, no doubt gave the attendees sense of belonging
and the zeal to make see reasons for the continuation of the alliance. There
were film makers, music producers, journalists, show promoters ,
artistes managers, actors and.rappers, some PMAN members, also honoured
the inaugural meeting. The president went on to address the subject
matter as he took out time to lecture, almost effortlessly, the need for
an artiste manager to define their position and have prerogative, and essentially
to know their worth.
Quoting the association’s president
who really brought his wealth of experience to bear, ‘’there is the need to
belong to an association that runs with a constitution where members and
intending members can be trained and equipped, to have a voice in the Nigerian
entertainment industry that can be heard’’, he said.
The meeting had well over 30 people
in attendance including entertainment talents such as star musician, Felix
Duke, Mr. Ezekiel, an international music promoter from Germany, Asa Ganga,
Nansy Mrs.Hustle, Lawal Adeola-the administrative officer co-ordinating the northern
region for the association, Tosca Roberts, the association’s acting secretary, Princess
Elizabeth Obanla, Timmy D, Chris Odia Osahon who honoured the MavinGrandPa by
presenting a work of art and the Enquirer crew to mention but a few.
Nevertheless there was a unanimous
decision that new officials be elected at the next meeting. After a session of
questions and answers, the president, presented to the house a bottle of
premium Black Label Johnnie Walker and other exotic cognac to toast to a new
beginning and there was also assortment of food and drinks for all to
savour. The meeting was closed with a prayer from talented Soul
Scrolls.
